Jonathan Daniel Scoggins, Born on August 29th, 2000.
JD for short, has had to overcome a lot in his short life. He weighed in at only 3 1/2lbs, and 15" tall. He was born 2 1/2
months early, at Ireland Army Community hospital, in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Taken by emergency c-section, he was rushed by air-vac
to Kosair's children hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, approx. 47 miles away from Knox. JD had 3 holes in his heart, suffered
from premature lungs, apnea, bradycardia, reflux & was diagnosed animic. JD stayed in the NICU for two months, 1 day. His
homecoming came on Oct. 30th, 2000.

JONATHAN @ 1 DAY OLD |
While in the NICU, as new parents, & dealing with our son having to
stay in the NICU, we were full of uncontrolable emotions. Having to ask for permission everyday just to hold your child, change
his diaper, or feed him was all part of him living in the NICU. Of coarse at the time, we found that hard to cope with, because
we felt as his parents we should have been able to do anything we wanted. Today we realize that JD was there to get better,
and that those nurses, and Dr.s were there to make sure he had the chance to get better. Having a infant in the NICU is hard,
everyday you come to visit, and help as much as possible. Everyday you hope it's the day he will come home, and everyday it's
hard to have to leave him there. You hope he is taken care of, when your gone. Then theres the site of your child. Seeing
a feeding tube up his nose, nasal prongs taped to the sides of his face, IV in his forehead, & wires taped to his
chest and feet. This sounds very graphic, but it's real, and it's all part of the everyday life of a preemie in
the NICU.
